Metro Broward Drug Task Force
The Metro Broward Drug Task Force (MBDTF) is composed of thirteen state, county, local and federal agencies. The lead initiative role is managed by full-time employees from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
The MBDTF is a multi-jurisdictional initiative that the South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) initiated funding for on October 1, 2010. Officers on the task force investigate cases and obtain search warrants and arrest warrants in drug cases throughout Broward County, FL.

Investigations by the MBDTF
The focus of Metro Broward Drug Task Force (MBDTF) is to disruption middle-level to upper-level Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTO) and Money Laundering Organizations (MLO) with ties to narcotics trafficking. The MBDTF conducts investigations, makes arrests and seizes property through asset forfeitures.
Detectives and agents conduct undercover operations into drug trafficking organizations including Consolidated Priority Organization Targets (CPOT), pharmaceutical traffickers and grow house operations.
Criminal investigations involving the MBDTA are initiated by information obtained from:
- confidential sources and informants working under the direction of detectives and agents;
- undercover personnel working in the field;
- Crime Stoppers tips called in from the public;
- information relayed from other HIDTA’s and law enforcement entities.
