Danielle Schey

Associate Attorney

Danielle Schey is an Associate Attorney at Meltzer & Bell, bringing extensive courtroom experience and a strong background in criminal law to her practice. A South Florida native, Ms. Schey is a three-time graduate of Nova Southeastern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a minor in Pre-Law, a Master of Business Administration in Marketing, and later her Juris Doctor from the Shepard Broad College of Law.

During her MBA studies, Ms. Schey began building a foundation in the legal field through volunteer and internship opportunities with the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office. Her dedication and work ethic quickly earned her a position as a Legal Assistant, where she gained valuable experience reviewing discovery, managing case files, and working closely with Assistant State Attorneys on a wide range of criminal matters.

While attending law school, Ms. Schey continued to expand her legal experience. She served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Marina Garcia-Wood in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Broward County, where she observed felony proceedings, hearings, and jury trials while conducting legal research and analyzing complex legal issues. She also worked as a Law Clerk at Greenspoon Marder LLP, assisting attorneys with legal research, drafting motions, and case preparation.

Ms. Schey later returned to the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office as a Legal Intern, gaining hands-on experience with both misdemeanor and felony prosecutions before becoming a member of The Florida Bar.

Following her admission to the Bar, Ms. Schey was hired as an Assistant State Attorney in Palm Beach County. In that role, she prosecuted and tried hundreds of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanor offenses, including DUI, trespass, and battery, to complex felony matters. Early in her tenure, she was assigned to the high-volume Gun Club Division, where she managed approximately 400 to 500 active cases, reviewing probable cause affidavits, evaluating criminal histories, and negotiating resolutions when appropriate.

Recognized for her exceptional performance, Ms. Schey was promoted within seven months to Lead Assistant State Attorney in County Court and was selected to serve as the office’s DUI Filing Intake Attorney. In these leadership roles, she supervised and trained newly admitted attorneys, handled motion practice and trials, and played a key role in evaluating and filing DUI cases. Her outstanding contributions earned her the State Attorney’s Office 2025 Rising Star Award.

Throughout her prosecutorial career, Ms. Schey successfully litigated numerous motions and gained extensive trial experience before transitioning to private practice. Today, she leverages her prosecutorial insight, courtroom experience, and established relationships within the South Florida legal community to vigorously represent clients facing criminal charges. She handles a broad spectrum of criminal matters, from misdemeanors to serious felony offenses, and is committed to protecting her clients’ rights at every stage of the legal process.
